CenterPoint-KCS Intermodal Center Opens for Business

Phase I of the CenterPoint-KCS Intermodal Center celebrated its grand opening on Monday, March 17. Kansas City Southern, CenterPoint Properties, Hunt Midwest Enterprises, Inc. and the Port Authority of Kansas City, Mo. were all on hand to commemorate the event.

The new intermodal facility offers 11,340 feet of main line track for efficient loading and unloading, ample room for growth, extensive paved parking, gate security and access to two, four-lane divided highways (U.S. Highway 71 and Missouri 150), providing a direct connection to a wide network of cross-country interstates. Demolition of the airport's unusable buildings and former cross-wind runway is underway. Next steps will be leveling and grading the roadways and building sites for new construction of an initial 5 million square feet of industrial development.

Horizons Business Park

Development plans for the 400-acre, $300 million Horizons Business Park in Riverside, Mo., were announced by master developer Block & Company, Inc. last month. The development is one of the largest industrial parcel in the Kansas City area to open in the past four decades. Horizons Business Park will be a master planned business community featuring all types of industrial products along with support services for businesses in the park.
