APICS CSCP Training Now Available in KC

Starting in September, The Association for Operations Management (APICS) will offer APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional certification training and a certification in Production and Inventory Management. According to APICS, "APICS CSCP designees are members of an elite group of supply chain experts." The CPIM certification will be ideal for manufacturing operations and materials professionals. This important training will allow logistics professionals in the KC region to compete at an even higher level with their national counterparts. Please visit APICS to learn more about this designation.

The Case for Bombardier

KC SmartPort has worked closely with the KCADC recruitment team to build a compelling case for Bombardier to choose the KC area for their $375 million C-series aircraft assembly facility. The site under consideration is on KCI Airport property, which offers not only the best air access in a six state region, but access to three Interstates (70, 29 and 35). If Bombardier chooses KC, we will gain significant credibility from other international companies looking for manufacturing, distribution and assembly sites. Stay tuned for the latest news on this "game-changing" project for KC.

"Laying the Tracks for Intermodal"

The May issue of Commercial Journal recognized the efforts of KC SmartPort and many of its regional partners. The article highlighted both the CenterPoint-KCS Intermodal Center in Kansas City, Missouri and BNSF's KC Logistics Park in Gardner, Kansas. According to Commercial Journal, "Today, the region is making history again with national attention on Kansas City's intermodal capabilities."

SmartPort completes TDE Phase I design, development and test shipments

Phase I focused on a trade documentation system to automate freight data related to shipments being exported to Mexico. Companies in the tests were pleased with the systems ability to identify specific products that need to be classified or products that lacked certificate of origin information. SmartPort's team led by EDS and Cadre Technologies are beginning work on Phase 1.5 that will add more than a dozen enhancements to the system. If your company exports products to Mexico, the TDE can save you time and money and allow your shipments to move faster to destination. For information contact Chris Gutierrez.
